Some kids are diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder and have a treatment plan developed and supervised by a therapist. However, often kids don’t have the disorder yet face sensory-related issues on a regular basis. They are compelled to seek out or avoid sensory input making basic things like eating, dressing, playing with friends, or enjoying outings challenging. Too often, these challenges are seen as discipline issues making them even harder to effectively deal with. In this session, Tara will define the sensory system, provide real world examples of common sensory-seeking behaviors in kids, and outline strategies to help your child regulate their sensory input. Presented by Tara Lindsay.
